Why the bad reviews? March 20, 2010 MAHJr Truth be told, my Garmin does NOT slip, and the mount itself does not move. Works as it should.
Great, but not too trusty. January 31, 2010 Palmer Jankens (California, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product worked perfectly for me for a couple of months, and then the stem broke off of the mount while riding. The only reason my GPS didn't smash on the ground was sheer luck in the direction of fall, which happened to be slow and catch-able. I fixed it with Mighty Putty (thanks Billie Mays!) and it has worked since.
No good on a bicycle! Don't waste your money! September 19, 2009 David Wheelock 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is no good on a bicycle. I got this to mount my Garmin GPS on my bicycle. However, the ball on the unit is too small so the GPS doesn't grip it tightly enough. Consequently, it's so loose that after only a few hundred yards of riding, the normal bicycle vibration causes the GPS to tilt down where you can't see it any more.
Totally useless. Don't waste your money.
Do not buy this product! September 10, 2009 Mark I. Stein 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Terrible, terrible, terrible! The ball and socket joint is far too slippery. The vibration from biking causes the unit to sag, and every five minutes you need to reposition the screen. Also, on very small bumps the unit leaps clear out of the mount and goes flying. This in not only destined to destroy an expensive GPS unit, it is dangerous! I would be looking for a new way to mount the Garmin Nuvi GPS to my bike, but the unit itself is so lousy that I don't intend to keep using it. I have come to this conclusion after a solid month of testing. Don't make the mistake I did. Don't buy a Garmin Nuvi; don't buy this handlebar mount.
Garbage! Beware of Falling GPS Units! July 12, 2009 Matt Baker (Mount Laurel, NJ USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I used this with the Garmin 265WT. I attached it securely and proceeded down my driveway. The GPS unit fell off and hit the pavement within 30 seconds when I hit the bump separating my driveway from the road... a small bump. Beware of this terrible product unless you can be positive you will never hit a pothole, go up a curb or hit a bump.
Although my GPS is all scratched up, it fortunately still works.
